Appearance:
Of slightly above average height, she is not quite tall, but fits her height perfectly, with an athletic form that holds more power than first apparent. She has well defined yet not sharp features with a fine dusting of freckles across her face, and a beauty that is deep but not immediately apparent. Deep blue-green eyes contrast with the medium length, almost long, reddish golden brown hair that she usually wears at least partly up. She doesn't wear makeup usually- Agedra finds no need to.
Personality:
A kind and caring personality cover a deeply buried steel edge that no one has seen for a while. People now know her as the friendly bartender who is always ready with a smile when you need it, someone you trust and feel comfortable confiding in without even knowing exactly why. Perceptive people may notice that for some reason there appears to be more to her than they can see, but she only lets them see what she wants to- with her characteristic degree of control. She has the ability to adapt to most situations that arise, and so the reason people have only seen one side of her lately, is because, well, she has adapted to her current situation.
Background:
History:
Agedra was adopted by Jane and Darrin Volir when her birth parents, both colonists, were killed. She was raised as an only child by her loving adoptive parents. While an intelligent child, she had a degree of self-preservation that led her to do what she would be happiest at, not what other people saw as worthy of her. Agedra grew up with a fairly large circle of friends, but she was close to very few, being more somebody people talked to and were helped by than a person that needed close connections.
After attending culinary school she enlisted in the military, not Starfleet, but Earth, and worked as a chef as well as helping to organize social functions. She retired after ten years and went to work for Starfleet.
Normally she does not speak of her past, so this does not come up, it simply exists in case anyone were to get especially curious.

Birth name: Layden Ross
History:
It would probably come as little surprise to any that knew her while she was growing up that Layden Ross would find her calling in life at Starfleet Intelligence. Always a mischievous youth (though she never got in trouble), Layden showed a knack for covert operations long before she even knew what they were. The third child (adopted) of Jonathon and Maria Ross, Layden and her siblings had a knack for circumventing their parents' authority.
Victor, the middle child, was the planner. He came up with their schemes be it finding early birthday and Christmas presents or simply swiping desert before dinner. Layden was the one that made the plans happen. The smallest of the three, he was the infiltration expert able to slip in and out of rooms without being detected by their parents. Kevin, the oldest boy and dubbed the "Golden Child" by her brothers since he seemed to be able to do no wrong, was the one that kept the kids from getting into any serious trouble with their parents.
It isn't that surprising that even as the brothers grew older and started to grow apart that young Layden would continue to hold onto a part of her troublemaker past. Layden never had any real problems in school. She got good grades and had plenty of friends, but she was not exactly an angel. He also developed a reputation as being the person to see if you wanted to find out anything about anyone.
It sort of came as a shock to her family when the recently graduated Layden revealed her plans to attend Starfleet Academy. This acceptance, though it didn't exactly straighten her out, it did focus her attention more on what she wanted and a vision for the future. Throughout the Academy, Layden toned down her "extracurricular" activities. That was probably due in part to the fact that it was not as easy to get away with things at the academy, and the youngest of the Ross family was not in any hurry to jeopardize her future. Layden's original plan to enter the scientific branch of the fleet soon changed though as word of her exploits and abilities spread. Soon her focus shifted into Intelligence, and Layden couldn't have been happier. Her training came almost as second nature to him since he had been unknowingly practicing the skills for most of her life.
After graduation, Layden underwent another year of training within Starfleet Intelligence. She probably would have received more, but growing tension between the Federation and the Dominion necessitated her move into active service. Her first posting was to the Nebula-class USS Romanov as an Intelligence officer. Her time on the Romanov was unimpressive though. With little more to do than pour over intelligence reports and the occasional covert operation, Layden found himself with a lot of free time on her hands. That changed after the war began to heat up though. Layden soon found herself reassigned to the front lines where her skills could be completely utilized.
After several secretive operations which no one will likely hear of again, Layden found herself on a longer term undercover assignment, dealing with a crime syndicate. She had worked her way up into her target position, making enemies along the way, when her cover was blown , making her even more enemies and putting her life in danger. Layden barely escaped with her life.
With this having happened, she was sent to an administrative position in intelligence to recover. But she was not happy here, preferring to be out interacting with people- but she dealt with it. Finally she was able to return to the field- but by now she was too well known.
To make a long story short, in order to protect her family and her own life, it was arranged so that one attempt would appear to have killed her. However, something went wrong and she very nearly was killed. Now she faced the choice of what to do. Layden realized she was done with her Intel work and decided to go into something that suited her talents at a less stressful level. She was given a new identity and appearance. Once she was medically capable, she started work, gaining experience on Earth before moving to her current location.
