Alindarians are incapable of vocal communication but they do have a powerful telepathic sense that allows them to communicate mentally even with non-telepaths. When she speaks it is like she is speaking naturally but she is not using her voice to communicate because of the simple fact that Alindarians do not have vocal cords, however she has learned to mimic vocal communication as a way to make it seem more natural to other races. Also Alindarians are very long lived the oldest being nearly eight hundred years old, Alena carries the look of a human in her early twenties. Off duty she dose not wear uniforms but more comfortable and civilian looking clothing.

Personality
Alena is quite possibly the most eccentric person you would ever want to meet. She dose not speak about herself very often and goes out of her way to avoid her personal life. Also she dose not speak often and is the last to start a conversation due to her method of conversation. Most races do not like the fact that she can insert her telepathic voice into other’s mind, and sometimes that could strain her relationship with others, especially those who are distrustful of Telepaths. However she is a noble woman that would give her life for friends and crew. Alena speaks very carefully and cautiously, and when she speaks it is always well thought out. When angered she is known to become very unpredictable.

Biography
Alena Trisan Althir was born into the Alindari Imperial Family as the fifth daughter of the Emperor and is fifth in line for the throne of Alindar. However she was at the time best described as a tomboy and a rebel that scoffed at tradition and partaking in her family’s traditions. The Emperor of Alindar is effectively a figurehead and the elected Senate are the true authority on the planet. However the Imperial Family still holds diplomatic authority for the Empire and has been relegated to simple diplomatic functions. However the Imperial Family was once of great prominence on Alindar.

Their histories tell of a great Empress by the name of Tirelle Althir that united the people during the warlord campaigns and defeated all of the warlords that were fighting for power on Alindar. When the wars ended Tirelle rebuilt Alindar as world of peace and there has not been a war on Alindar for nearly two thousand years. However after a hundred years of being raised in the peaceful splendor of the Empire, and attending state dinners, funerals, and other ceremonial functions she got tired of it and one day ran away.

Alena bought a scout ship and left the Alindari Empire for the frontier just to see what was out there. It was paradise for her. She explored new races, different worlds, and seen many different cultures. So much that she changed. However while traveling the quadrant one day she heard about a ‘Federation’ of hundreds of different member worlds and set out to find this Federation. She did not have to search long before finding a Starfleet Science Vessel. The ship initiated first contact and she came aboard to find what she left Alindar; Another state dinner. It annoyed her until the Captain asked her what was wrong and she told him her story.

Once she set the record straight she was allowed to visit the Federation and found it to be quite fascinating. She was enthralled by the many worlds sharing their culture freely with each other, and there was always plenty for her to focus on. The Federation was the home she was searching for where she did not have to stand by and adhere to the old traditions like a mindless drone. That was of course until First Contact was made with the Empire.

Eventually the Emperor got around after a hundred years and noticed that one of his princess’ were missing. He sent her brother after her to bring her home in order to get this response. “No way, I am having too much fun right now. Go back and tell our father that he may think he rules the Empire but he dose not rule me.” The Alindari Prince went back to Alindar completely deadlocked on what to tell the Emperor, but when he arrived, the Emperor was so busy with ceremonies and diplomatic procedure that it would probably be another one hundred years until he remembered to ask if the prince was doing his job.

However one day while she was bored she decided to go join Starfleet Academy and become an engineer. It gave her something to expend her energy upon and it gave her a chance to have a little fun while she was doing it too. She became infamous for her pranks and lecturing the instructors during class. She passed the Academy quite easily and several of the academy instructors even suspected her of cheating. To these allegations she simply responded. “Cheat? How could I cheat at something I already knew when I came here. You would be surprised how often they sit in a classroom and prove how smart *they* are rather than doing anything for their students.”

She was assigned to the USS Van Gogh as a Engineering Officer and found it quite fun, even though the crew was filled with “Serious” explorers. She found their zeal to be quite amusing and later referred to them as “The Ant Farm” As they would explore the frontier, dig holes for others to follow but could not even comprehend why they were doing it. After two years of watching them she decided that she had enough of their zeal and transferred.

She was transferred to the USS Trieste and did not fit in as well. All of the crew were either hardened Dominion War Vets or hopeless perverts. The crew found Alena’s behavior disturbing because she kept on watching them. She soon called the ship “The Dirty Crocodile Pit” because there were so many interesting bad moods and other indignities on the ship. The Captain even had her thrown into the brig for “Watching” too much and she responded with.... “Well Captain its not like you don’t stare at the... magazines under your bed while your wife is away, or should I tell her about that?” Those word effectively got her transferred off the Trieste to Starbase 29 however that would be Captain Dranson’s bane because she told everyone on the ship what she knew about each other and it put the whole crew in a complete uproar that got her pulled into the JAG office where they tried to accuse her of disrupting order on a starship, to which she replied. “The only crime I committed was telling the truth, and you knew of their indignities. Would you like to know yours?” JAG let her off with a warning.

She then applied for transfer to the Katana where hopefully she would get a ship with seemingly normal people aboard and since moved to the USS Lancelot with Rear Admiral Conrad.
